I'm Sick of Long Winded Pitches

Are you as fed up as I am
with those long winded never ending pitches from self-proclaimed marketing
gurus? I've vowed never to read another web page "pitch" that is longer than
about 20 paragraphs. Do you think I'll be missing much?
You know the kind of pitch I'm talking about. The guru has
just come off an amazingly successful campaign where he's had to cope with a
"flood of orders", a virtual "stampede of new customers". And he will gladly
show you his bank statements to prove it.
Then he goes on to tell you how many valuable bonus offers he's going to give
you, how many thousands of dollars they're worth, how many new customers
you're going to get in the first 24 hours, how many of his friends regularly
cruise the world spreading around money because they have so much. Blah, blah,
blah, blah ,blah...
On and on it goes, each guru competing with the last to see how long he can
hold the reader in the palm of his manipulative hand until, finally, several
thousand words later, he reveals the amazingly low price. Slashed in half, of
course. But only until midnight tonight.
Come on people! Talk about guys in love with the sound of their own voices.
Talk about manipulation. Talk about insulting our intelligence. Isn't a long
winded pitch a dead give away that the pitcher is a con man? Doesn't the very
length of these things just drip with snake oil?
Yes, and yes. So you're welcome to join me in never reading another one.
