How To Ask The Right College Questions

Do your parents tell you to move out of the house? Go to college. Even if you go to online college you will get out of the house sooner and stay out on your own with the great job you will get. According to the most recent US Government census, Americans with a bachelors degree earned 51% more than those with just a high school diploma. Those with a bachelors degree earned over $52,000 per year on average.

Now that you are a believer in college how do you pick a good one? Below is a list of questions to help you research how to get into the right college.

1. Should you go to college near home or in another state? What options are available online?

2. Is smaller better, or do you like big schools?

3. What financial aid is available?

4. Do you prefer a suburban setting, a school in a big city or studying in the middle of nowhere?

5. What programs are of interest to you? Liberal arts or a more focused program?

6. How does your school rank overall with other schools?

7. Does the school have a career services program? What is the placement rate?

8. Are there available programs offered by the school for extracurricular activity?

9. Is the housing on campus or do you have to find it yourself?

10. Is there a professor that could potentially mentor you one on one to develop your career interest?

11. Extra credit: Is the school financially secure?

I recommend you review each one of these questions and do your research. Set up a spreadsheet with these questions and answer them as you find schools you think might be a good fit. Good luck in your college experience and keep thinking about that great job you want.
